Acts 3: The Lame begger healed

O:
Peter and John go to temple
Crippled begger is at the gates
when the man asked for money Peter told the man he had none to give but instead told him to get up.
The man was no longer crippled
The man went into temple with John and Peter
Everyone who went to temple knew this man and was amazed by what has happened

How mighty is the hand of God. By having nothing but faith, and believing in Christ, he was able to make a cripple man rise. Gods power is so mighty, he can make the most impossible things change. The man was crippled at BIRTH and was healed. Peters faith in Gods power and presence allowed this man to be healed. This faith and strength that believed in Gods power was enough to change, what seemed to be the impossible. I think that I need some of this faith, and I believe that all we really need is to have faith and believe. Seriously, in Christ ALONE anything is possible.

Acts 2: The fellowship of believers

O:
Of the thousands saved they were devoted to the teaching and ways that the apostles had provided
Great things were being done by the apostles
Everyone who believed had a common interest
People were selling their things and giving the money to any one who needed it
Everyone went to temple, broke bread, and did so with thankful hearts
They praised God for his work, and he added to their numbers

Fellowship before and fellowship now seems to have changed dramatically. Fellowship today usually just means to hang out. Fellowship in Acts really shows us what fellowship should look like. It wasn't just about satisfy time, but it was about caring for each other and doing things in for the Lord with each other. I believe that this should be the basis for small groups. That this type of community that Luke is describing should be what our small groups look like today.

Acts 2: The coming of the Holy Spirit

O:
everyone was in the same place during Pentecost
Gods presence was among them
a fire rested on each one of the disciples
they began to speak in tongues
the spirit was directing how they spoke
each of them hear their own native language being spoken from those who are not native to that land.
they hear the great works of God
there are mockers

Jesus's fulfillment of his promise that the Holy Spirit would come and guide them came true.(Acts 1:8) when the HS came he guided them and begun to fill them with with the power of Christ. The spirit gave them the ability to spread Gods word in a new way. They could finally be able to witness to all the many different types of people around the world. This is the beginning of their world wide witness.

Acts 1

O:
All teh men were in their room devoting themselves to prayer along with their wives and Mary.
peter stood out among his brothers
Talked about how the prophecy spoken by the Holy spirit needed to be fufilled
Since judas death they wanted to choose another to take his spot to become a witness
They threw a vote and matthias won the vote
I:
when the holy spirit says something will happen it WILL happen.
even though there were 2 choices prayer was important for making known "Gods" decision

Acts 1 The Ascension

O:
Jesus ascends up to Heaven
His disciples want to know when Jesus will be back, but he tells them that they shouldnt worry
He tells his disciple that by the Holy spirit they will recieve power to be his witness all over the world
two men stood next to Jesus in white robes as he was taken into heaven
I:
God is the ultimate authority when making decisions
The time on earth is a time for discipling and witnessing for the gospel
Jesus was visible brought into heaven
The two masked me were Angels in human form
Jesus will come back to the world just as he left(bodily and visible for all to see)

Romans 14:Do not cause others to stumble

O:
  • Paul is telling us not to judge one another nor to hinder their walk with Christ
  • even though something may be "unclean" it may actually be clean, its all dependent on what the person thinks(foods referring back to the old covenant)
  • Paul tells the strong that if something seems "unclean" the should refrain from it to help keep the faith of a "weaker" brother and sister
  • Gods kingdom does not center around what we eat or drink, but instead it centers around righteousness, peace, and joy.
  • whoever acts in way that helps the weak is acceptable to God and among other people
  • Dont stumble other brothers by what you eat
  • It is good to not stumble fellow brothers and sister by what we eat or drink.
  • Paul tells the strong that its okay to eat anything because of their faith, but if what they eat should stumble other brothers then they should refrain from it
  • what ever does not come from faith is sin
I:
  • Those who are strong in faith should not do anything that may hinder those whose faiths are weaker
  • the kingdom of God isnt about logistics, but its centered around righteousness, peace, and joy
  • If we show love to those who are week, it pleases God
  • If we are not sure whether something is right or wrong we should see it as wrong
  • anything we do apart from faith, is sin
A:
  • when there are people who have a "weaker" faith I should cautious with what I say and do
  • even though I know in my heart that its ok, I should put myself in the position where those who are "weaker" will fall.(be a good role model)
  • If have doubts that something is right or wrong, I should take cation and view it as wrong
